Matthew, 7: 7-12
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
What touched my Soul
Prayer is the normal way to reach out to God. We all know that.
There are several ways of praying. Fr. James Martin, sj wrote a lovely book about it.
although today i don't want to talk about the simplicities or complexities of prayer.
I want us to focus on Matthew gospel today.
if we ask it will be given. If we seek we will find.
well i wouldn't take this to the letter.
obviously God is a good father. The best father ever and He will always do what we ask as long as it’s in His plans to do it.
Some of us dont realize this and get frustrated that what we ask God is not happening.
i would advice reading a book by Mark Batterson called “Circle Maker”. The main idea is pray and listen to God’s voice. Once God makes his promises we circle those promises and pray through until God fulfil His promises.
but there is a lot more to learn on those two books I mentioned.
give them a go and let me know what you think.
