John, 12: 1-11

1Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Laz'arus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2There they made him a supper; Martha served, and Laz'arus was one of those at table with him. 3Mary took a pound of costly ointment of pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment. 4But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was to betray him), said, 5"Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?" 6This he said, not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box he used to take what was put into it. 7Jesus said, "Let her alone, let her keep it for the day of my burial. 8The poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me." 9When the great crowd of the Jews learned that he was there, they came, not only on account of Jesus but also to see Laz'arus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10So the chief priests planned to put Laz'arus also to death, 11because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus.

What touched my Soul

”This he (Judas Iscariot) said, not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box he used to take what was put into”

Judas Iscariot was a thief and although a disciple of Jesus. He was one of the twelve that followed Jesus during the years of his public life.

Jesus knew him, the deepest thoughts in his heart. Jesus knew he will end up selling Him for thirty denarii, although Jesus allowed him to be his friend and disciple.

I have a couple of thoughts that I would like to share with you today

- Jesus loved Judas with his sins but also with all the good he had in his heart.

- Jesus wanted to change Juda’ s heart, that is why he kept him close?

- Judas was a key element in the death and ressurrection of Jesus.

- Why did Judas stayed around Jesus? Was just because of the money as he was the treasurer of the group? Was it because of Jesus his words, miracles and love?

In my head I like to think Judas loved Jesus and in a moment of weakness he sold Him to the high priests.

After he repent, we can read that in the gospels when he tries to return the coins, but was too late and instead of, like Peter after denying he knew Jesus, gain strength, ask for forgiveness and stick with the rest of the disciples he hanged himself .

In my view we always have the two options towards sin in our life.

- We quick and deliver our life/soul to the sin and are ruled by it and quit living a good life

- We fight it. Everytime we sin we recognize it, repent and beg for forgiveness and do the best in our strength not to repeat it.

Let’s ask Jesus to help us to recognize we are sinner, repent, ask for forgiveness and keep faithful in Him following up our lifes close to His heart

Let‘s ask Jesus to give us the strength to never quit to repent and ask for forginess, even in the worst situations. Because He came to show us the light and save us, not to condemn us.
