Matthew 8:18-22
18Now when Jesus saw great crowds around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side. 19And a scribe came up and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." 20And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head." 21Another of the disciples said to him, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." 22But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead."
What touched my soul
Wow!! Another super radical teaching from Jesus. He asks who wants to follow Him to give up everything.
We learned on the gospel today that following Jesus is a challenging task. Following Jesus is a very demanding and radical way of living.
To follow Jesus is leave, abandon ourselves from our comfort zone and gonwith Him.
For me, today’s gospel means we who believe in Him, who believe He is the son of God, we have the obligation to take the radical step and do what he teach us.
There is nothing that should stop us to do the right thing in our lives.
Follow Him in today’s world mean take into action His teachings.
I’m not necessarily talking about knock on every door to talk about Christ or other complex role in the church.
I’m thinking about in our simple and normal life's bring Jesus teachings into the game. Show the others we are His followers.
”If you cant be light to the world, be a candle to your family”.
Reflect about this.
