John 20:24-29
24Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. 25So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and place my finger in the mark of the nails, and place my hand in his side, I will not believe." 26Eight days later, his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. The doors were shut, but Jesus came and stood among them, and said, "Peace be with you." 27Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side; do not be faithless, but believing." 28Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!" 29Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe."
What touched my Soul
We all know pThomas and what happen to him after Jesus resurrection. The disbelief, the initial lack of faith in the man he followed for a long period of his life is not surprising, I guess.
Be sceptical about things we don't fully understand is a very human feeling. only through faith we can overcome it.
What really touches my soul if the act of redemption. The words of faith. The simple words that instinctively came out of his mouth when he saw Jesus and recognised Him :
"My Lord and my God!"
My Lord and my God.
These are the same words I use during the consecration of the bread and the wine In the mass.
My Lord and my God.
Yes because its the real presence of Jesus we have in the Eucharist.
Jesus is there with us not only in spirit but his body and blood is present to us by the mistery of the transubstantiation.
My Lord and my god.
