John 16:23-28

23In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father, he will give it to you in my name. 24Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. 25"I have said this to you in figures; the hour is coming when I shall no longer speak to you in figures but tell you plainly of the Father. 26In that day you will ask in my name; and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you; 27for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from the Father. 28I came from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father."

What touched my Soul

”If you ask anything of the Father, he will give it to you in my name.... ask, and you will receive.“

Ask and you wil receive... ask in my name

I always thought it’s is not by our merit that God provide us with what we get from this life. Its by God’s mercy and goodness.

Although Jesus tell us to ask the Father in His name that God will listen to us.

Jesus is not telling us God will give what we want, He will provide what we need.

So, there is merit in us to ask, but please bear in mind prayer is talk to God. Ask but also give thanks and contemplate Gods creation.

If we ask rest assure that God will listen to us, Jesus tell us. Although that does not mean God will do what we ask Him. He will listen and will provide us what is best for His plans for us.
