Mark 10: 1-12

And he left there and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan, and crowds gathered to him again; and again, as his custom was, he taught them.

And Pharisees came up and in order to test him asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” He answered them, “What did Moses command you?” They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to put her away.” But Jesus said to them, “For your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,[a] and the two shall become one.’[b] So they are no longer two but one.[c] What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder.”

10 And in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter. 11 And he said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another, commits adultery against her; 12 and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

What touched my soul

Today touched my soul this short passage from the gospel : “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one. So they are no longer two but one.

why?

Life is a gift of God and sometimes God likes to put challenges on our way. This is a story about a man. A man who left father and mother to go live in another country with is wife and his four children. This was man of faith, respected God and follow His teachings. But this man had a problem bothering hos conscience. His father and mother , now on the late seventies were sick and old nd needed hos support and help more than ever. His conscience was heavy has in his heart he knew all the sacrifices and all the effort his parents always made to have him studying in the best schools, having the best food, never left miss anaythong home for him to have the opportunity to be a wise and just man.

Now they needed the most he was away, not there for them as they always were for him when he was weak and fragile.

It was when this men came accross this text from Mark and all became clear, and his sould was touched by the living Word. “.... A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one”. His responsibility now is mainly with his wife and his children. His role as husband and father is a full role he must fullfil. His responsibility over his children is greater that the one for his parents. Very likely his parents had towards him. From that moment on this men spririt come to rest and doing all he could for his parents he his happy with his wife and children building their future in the trust and faith in God.
