Matthew 5: 43-48

43"You have heard that it was said, `You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

What touched my Soul

For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? “

In yesterday reading Jesus asked us to reconcile with your brothers and sisters before appraoch the altar, before approach him.

Today his proposal is in the same line of radical messages. Today Jesus ask us to love our enemies. Do good to those who care for us and like us “what more are you doing than others?”

How often we all find ourselfs in situations where we create barriers to certain people that we perceive as our enemies. Sometimes this barriers are based on silly events and situations that we created ourselves. Once the evil is done it’s very hard to undo, and once relations are taken to the limit there is only way to solve them.

Follow this teaching from Jesus, loose our pride, forgive who we believe is our enemy and reconcile.

Today let’s thank our Lord all His challenging teachings.

They are at the same time callenging but also opportunities to allow us to turn into better human beings and be closer to His will and to His heart.
